CBC Manitoba Future 40

Congratulations to Dr. Alex Singer, CBC Manitoba Future 40 finalist!

Dr. Alex Singer is an associate professor in the department of family medicine at the University of Manitoba, where he leads the quality improvement and informatics curriculum.

Alex is Manitoba's leading expert in electronic medical records (EMR). He is director of the Manitoba Primary Care Research Network, where his team is developing new ways of using EMR data to improve health-care delivery and advance health research in our province.

FMF debrief: Workshop gems

In this session, attendees of this year’s Family Medicine Forum (FMF) will present short snappers on what they learned there. Presenters will speak for eight minutes followed by discussion.

Facilitators: Drs. Anita Ens & Gayle Halas

Topics include:

• Safer opioid prescribing

• Alcohol use disorder in primary care

• Improv in medical education

• Evidence-based remediation

We will consider ways in which these gems might be translated to our current methods of teaching or patient care.

Join us online or in person to learn from your peers, regardless of whether or not you were at FMF.

Best advice guide: Advanced and meaningful use of EMRs

The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and Canada Health Infoway have partnered to offer family physicians practical guidance about the advanced and meaningful use of electronic medical record (EMR) capabilities in this new guide, since many family practice environments have adopted an EMR system and are increasingly incorporating digital health tools into practice. Dr. Alex Singer was involved in the development of this guide.
