Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes for JDRF at the Brodie Atrium on Friday, June 15. Six teams of Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management staff and students raised over $1,100 for JDRF Canada, an organization that funds type 1 diabetes research, by taking part in the noon hour relay-style stationary bike race.
The event was co-organized by Kerri Chase, supervisor, Joe Doupe Recreation Centre, and Dr. Barbara Shay, head, physical therapy, College of Rehabilitation Sciences. It was the third time the diabetes ride took place on Bannatyne campus. The event took place one day after World Diabetes Day, which marked annually on Nov. 14 in honour of Dr. Frederick G. Banting, the Canadian co-discoverer of insulin.

Furthest distance – Miker’s Bikers
Team spirit – Super cyclers
