Faculty and staff updates (September 2024)

Dr. Sandra Webber was appointed as the inaugural CoRS associate dean academic on July 1 and is continuing as director of the applied health sciences PhD program and is also leading the development of a CoRS PhD program.

As of July 1, Dr. Jacquie Ripat has take on the role of CoRS associate dean research. She will continue as chair of technology for assisted living for CoRS and vice dean academic affairs for the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.

Welcome to Faye Bauer, who recently started as administrative services and operations manager.

Dr. Moni Fricke and Kelly Codispodi are currently undertaking research study leaves in the fall term, 2024.

Liz Harvey completed her research study leave to work on her PhD, and is leading the preparation of the MPT program’s accreditation report.

Welcome to Karen Jashyn, who recently started as confidential assistant to the associate deans of research and academics.

Dr. Dean Kriellaars has been promoted to full professor. He also served as CoRS associate dean research in 2023 and continued to attend ADR meetings as CoRS rep until July 2024.

Dr. Joanne Parsons is continuing as chair of the MSc Rehab program and has also taken a lead role in the MPT program’s curriculum renewal initiative.

Dr. Barbara Shay retired on June 30 after many years of service as a member of faculty and department head.

Dr. Patty Thille has been promoted to associate professor.

Rhonda Van Veggel has taken another role at UM. We have appreciated her participation on the fieldwork and clinical education team

Maureen Walker completed nine years of service as chair of the CoRS awards committee and is continuing as chair of the PT awards committee.
