Dr. Elizabeth Tippett Pope Lectureship in Patient Care:
Management of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office (6 CDE credit hours)

Saturday, November 25, 2023 | 9:30am-4:30pm
Theatre B, Basic Medical Sciences Building, Bannatyne campus

The Dr. Elizabeth Tippett Pope Lectureship in Patient Care honours the career and contributions of Dr. Elizabeth Tippett Pope who loved practicing dentistry in Winnipeg.

This year’s lecture topic, Management of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office, provides a foundation to safely and efficiently care for those patients who experience an unexpected health event while undergoing dental care, and supports the attention and care that all dental health practitioners strive to provide for their patients.

The primary objective of this course is to prepare the entire dental team, including general dentists, specialists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants, to take part in the management of medical emergencies that may arise in the dental office as part of patient care and treatment.

Please encourage your entire dental team to register for this event at cpd-umanitoba.com and join us for a full day of learning. Registration is complimentary.

CPD Dentistry Neuromodulator Course(s) Approved by Manitoba Dental Association

At the end of 2022, the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) passed a by-law allowing certified dental professionals to incorporate neuromodulator and dermal filler use into their scope of practice for not only therapeutic purposes, but also esthetic purposes.

In response to this opportunity for dental professionals to expand their of scope of practice into this field, CPD Dentistry has developed, and continues to develop, courses to help Manitoba dentists to qualify for certification in each of the rosters identified within the MDA by-law for the use of neuromodulators and dermal fillers.

The introductory and foundational anatomy course was held in May of 2023, and CPD Dentistry will be offering the companion lecture and clinical hands-on courses in October and December of 2023, respectively, for Therapeutic Applications of Neuromodulator Use in cases of Bruxism and Myofascial Pain & Parafunction. Completion of these latter two courses will allow Manitoba dental professionals to be rostered under the IA/IB section of the MDA by-law for use of neuromodulators and dermal fillers.
