Applied Public Health Chair – Public Health Approaches to Improve Access to Oral Health Care and Oral Health Status for Young Children in Canada. Canadian Institutes of Health Research $1,150,000 (2024 – 2029 RJ Schroth (Principal Investigator (PI)). Dr. Robert Schroth’s application ranked in the top 11 per cent nationally over 55 competing submissions. This highly competitive Chair recognizes his national and international excellence in research aimed at improving equitable oral health care access for children.

2024-2026 Pesun IJ, Patel T. Evaluating the efficiency of the different resilient over denture attachment in Implant Assisted Cast Partial Dentures. Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry Endowment Fund $2,000.00

2024-2026 Pesun IJ, Kaur H. Evaluating Surface Roughness, Fatigue Resistance and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Zirconia using two different types of milling machines and three different parameters.  Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry Endowment Fund $1,700.00

Dr. Prashen Chelikani, professor of oral biology, received $1,319,625 (over five years) in Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) project funding. Chelikani and the team will work to understand why some dental fungi are associated with tooth decay in preschool children and the local environmental factors that might influence them. Read more.

Dr. Chelikani and his team received an Ignite grant. The project is titled Toward Bedside Bio-Printing of Orthopedic Devices and was awarded $1,050,000 over five years. Dr. Chelikani will serve as sub-principal investigator in charge of objective two of this project, which is to develop an AI-powered database to select personalized biocompatible materials based on each patient’s unique biological and mechanical traits.
