Dr. Anil Menon, assistant professor and division head of dental public health and community dentistry, has taken on the role of president of the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry.
Dr. Vimi Mutalik, associate professor of dental diagnostic and surgical sciences, and division head of oral diagnosis, is the recipient of the W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education from the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry.
Dr. Vimi Mutalik and Dr. Mohamad-Hasan Kadhim, assistant professor of dental diagnostic and surgical sciences, received a UM Community Engagement Fund Award.
In recognition of his services, the main lecture theatre at the newly established Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan, was named earlier this year after Dr. Adnan Shah, professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery and department head of dental diagnostic and surgical sciences.
Kaleigh Warden, instructor and DH3 clinical coordinator in the School of Dental Hygiene, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association.
STUDENTS
Nicholas Klassen, first-year PhD student in oral biology in Dr. Ayesha Saleem‘s lab, won first place in Poster Awards – Undergraduate Category at the FKRM Research Day in May as he wrapped up his undergraduate studies.
Hans Sanchez, UM undergraduate co-op student in Dr. Ayesha Saleem‘s lab, won third place in the URS poster competition held on the Fort Garry campus in October.
