Grants

Dr. Kangmin Duan, professor of oral biology, Dr. Chrysi Stavropoulou, director of graduate periodontics, and Katherine Yerex, assistant professor of dental hygiene, received a $7,000 Catalyst Grant from the Manitoba Chemosensory Biology Group for their project Role of plaque microbiome in cervical root resorption.

Dr. Rodrigo França, division head of dental materials, received a $90,000 grant from Mitacs Accelerate for his research project Custom root-analogue dental implant manufactured by direct metal laser forming.

Joseph Grauer received $12,000 in funding from Research Manitoba’s Master’s Studentship Competition for his project Enhancing soft tissue integration of implants.

Dr. Chrysi Stavropoulou, director of graduate periodontics, and Dr. Aleksandra Glogowska, instructor II in the department of human anatomy and cell science at the Max Rady College of Medicine, received Seed Project funding from the UM Teaching and Learning Support Fund. Their project Cadaveric surgical stimulation training as novel teaching and learning strategy for the development of surgical skills in dental clinical graduate programs: A new collaboration between Dentistry and Anatomy has been funded to the amount of $5,877.

Kaleigh Warden, instructor II of dental hygiene, was granted funding from UM of up to $5,000 to support the enhancement of her scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) research skills and to make connections with the SoTL community both at UM and across Canada.
