Obituary for Peter Bertram Wilson

Peter Bertram Wilson died peacefully at June 4, 2024 in Kildonan Long Term Care, Winnipeg, Man. Peter, the son of Archibald and Madge Wilson, was born on June 30, 1940 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and was reared in Kingston, Ont. He was predeceased by a sister Doris. Peter is survived by his ex-wife, Sarah, his sister Merne, his daughters Amy (Joe) Alexa and Luc, Abby (Peter) Mathus, Garron and Vaughn, and Jaime (Ray) Mackenzie, Emily, and Jacob.

Peter served for seven years as a flying officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was accepted into the Engineering Faculty at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont., where he completed a degree in civil in engineering.

In 1967, Peter entered the University of Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry, completing his degree in 1971, having been awarded the John. W. Clay Gold Medal, Graduation with Honor, and Election to Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He practiced dentistry in the Boyd Building and in Alexandria Place in Winnipeg. Peter practiced dentistry in Winnipeg and served to teach part time in the University of Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry for nearly a quarter of a century. His academic gifts were deeply appreciated by the students he taught and by full-time faculty members who were the beneficiaries of his wisdom.

Peter’s family members offer deep feelings of gratitude to Tammy Klassen (Resident Care Manager), and all other staff members at the revera Kildonan Long Term Care facility who provided care for Peter, granting him “an amazingly good quality of life.”
