Thirty-nine dental students took part in the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba’s 35th annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Assiniboine Park on Sept. 8, 2024.

The student volunteers helped out at the Health Smile Happy Child’s booth in the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba’s (CHRIM) I Want to be a Scientist tent. The learners helped with activities that focused on the importance of oral health.

“About 1,500 community members came to the I Want to be a Scientist tent to learn about the many research activities at CHRIM and the importance of taking care of young children’s teeth for a lifetime of healthy smiles,” said Daniella DeMaré, project coordinator with the Healthy Smile Happy Child Initiative. “Volunteers from the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry helped to make it a huge success.”
