Sandra Iwankow<\/sup><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

Sandra Iwankow<\/strong> has retired after 27 years with the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry. A retirement celebration took place at the end of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maureen King<\/strong> will now serve as the department assistant for both preventive dental science and dental diagnostic and surgical sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ayesha Saleem<\/strong>, associate professor of oral biology, was elected as the new graduate program chair for the department of oral biology. She started the position in January 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Department of Restorative Dentistry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Dr. Aaron Kim<\/strong>\u2019s appointment as acting department head has been extended until December 31, 2026.<\/li>
  • Dr. Asmaa Haimeur<\/strong> has been appointed associate department head in restorative dentistry, effective January 1, 2026. <\/li>
  • Dr. Alexandre C\u00e2mara<\/strong>, the new faculty endodontist, began his appointment at the college on February 9, 2026. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Department of Preventive Dental Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Dr. Daniela Sens Nunes<\/strong>, was selected and has commenced her full-time tenure-track appointment as assistant professor in the preventive dental science department, division of orthodontics.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Department of Dental Diagnostic & Surgical Sciences<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Dr. Reda Elgazzar<\/strong> has begun a one-year research leave until December 31st<\/sup> , 2026. Dr. Elgazzar will be retiring in January 2027.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Student Services \u2013 Graduate and Undergraduate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Undergraduate Student Services staff and graduate program staff have been consolidated into a single, full-service Student Affairs and Academic Support Unit. The new office is in P131, Pathology Building (across from Theatre E).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          The following staff members are now located in this office:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Eli Miranda<\/strong> \u2013 Graduate program assistant<\/li>
          • Rem Binua <\/strong>\u2013 Graduate program assistant<\/li>
          • Frances Dang<\/strong> \u2013 Graduate program assistant<\/li>
          • Susan Petras<\/strong> \u2013 Student affairs (Undergraduate)<\/li>
          • Jean Lyon<\/strong> \u2013 Admissions, recruitment, and IDDP (undergraduate)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Elsa Ross<\/strong>, Financial Administrator for Departments and Student Services, is also located in P131.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Dean\u2019s Office Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • Dr. Trenna Reeve<\/strong>, associate dean (clinical), has relocated her office from the restorative dentistry department to the Dean\u2019s office (D113).<\/li>
            • Laura Friesen<\/strong>, part-time clinical\/academic coordinator, has also moved her office from P131 to the Dean\u2019s office (D113).<\/li>
            • The Centre for Community Oral Health<\/strong> also has a new home in the office suite D028 on the lower level of 780 Bannatyne. You will find:
              • Corinne Bale<\/strong> \u2013 Finance administrator<\/li>
              • Rena Babynchuk<\/strong> \u2013 Program administrator<\/li>
              • Jasmine Closas<\/strong> \u2013 OHAF Apprenticeship Program administrator<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
              • Chukwudi Ofili (Chuks)<\/strong> \u2013 Finance administrator for the OHAF\/ACFD Project. Chuks works mostly remote, but when in the office he is in the clinical support services area.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                Clinical Support Services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                • Gurpreet Virk<\/strong> is the new patient care coordinator for the Children\u2019s Outreach Program<\/li>
                • Stephanie De Souza<\/strong> is the new receptionist<\/li>
