The Bannatyne campus is looking cleaner thanks to a group of Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry and School of Dental Hygiene students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The college\u2019s Student Environmental Group organized a campus cleanup on Oct. 5. Ten students braved the cold and windy weather to fill garbage bags with masks, cigarette butts and plastic.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cI thought it went really well,\u201d said Emma Mutcher, chair of the Student Environmental Group. \u201cWe\u2019re all so busy, so just having as many people as we did come out was nice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of an hour, the students cleaned up from the Brodie Centre doors, down McDermot Avenue, up Tecumseh Street and down Bannatyne Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. John Perry, associate dean (academic), Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, joined the students for the campus cleanup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCongratulations to the Student Environmental Group for another successful campus cleanup,\u201d Perry said. \u201cOur dental and dental hygiene students have again shown their appreciation of being part of the neighborhood through organizing this event. The College of Dentistry is pleased to support our students\u2019 involvement in such activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the second year the student group has organized the fall campus cleanup. Mutcher said they are considering hosting a cleanup in the spring.        <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
