The office received about $80,000 and were able to expend the full amount by the end of March 31, 2022. Some of the things they supported include covering the costs of proper footwear for students walking with Bear Clan Patrol, costs for transportation and offsetting cell phone charges for students primarily using this method of communication with organizations. They also supported materials and supplies for students supporting organizations with resource distribution for the homeless as an example.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Please help plan the <strong>Office of Innovation in Scholarship and Medical Education<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a02022\/23\u00a0faculty development program by completing its needs assessment survey. Your input is critical for its program planning.\u00a0The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, and your submission is anonymous and confidential. It was in 1973 that the first resident entered the family medicine residency training program. The planning committee has selected May 26, 2023 to celebrate the occasion with a gala hosted at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre. In line with its strategic priorities the department wants to use this opportunity to celebrate and promote its members and its legacy.\u00a0They are planning to do so by reflecting and celebrating how far they have come, while establishing new awards that will celebrate and promote learners, faculty and staff on an ongoing basis. The department needs your help! In order to promote and maximize its reach within its community they will launch a social media platform.\u00a0We are looking for the most creative hashtags to promote and track activity surrounding the department. Please submit your ideas to <a href=\"mailto:DFM@Umanitoba.ca\">DFM@Umanitoba.ca<\/a> with the subject #Anniversary for a chance to win one of three prizes.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The <strong>minimally invasive surgery research team<\/strong> is participating\u00a0in\u00a0a national study in bariatric surgery for the reduction of cardiovascular\u00a0events randomized controlled trial (BRAVE). This study was initiated\u00a0by\u00a0Hamilton Health Sciences with research centers from across Canada participating. The team will represent the Manitoba bariatric population for this research. The outcomes of this study will be practice changing on treating patients with severe obesity and high-risk cardiovascular disease.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The <strong>Canadian Antimicrobial Resistance Alliance (CARA)<\/strong> presented two posters at the AMMI meeting in Vancouver from April 5-8, 2022. Also, CARA will present four research posters at the\u00a012th International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Diseases in June in Toronto,\u00a0and six posters at the ASM Microbe in June at the meeting in Washington D.C.
