{"id":516,"date":"2020-04-29T09:35:28","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T13:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.radyfhs.umanitoba.ca\/medicine\/?p=516"},"modified":"2020-04-29T09:41:19","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T13:41:19","slug":"dr-claude-murphy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.radyfhs.umanitoba.ca\/medicine\/dr-claude-murphy\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Claude Murphy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-508\" src=\"http:\/\/news.radyfhs.umanitoba.ca\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2017\/07\/Dr.-Claude-Murphy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"203\" \/>On April 16, 2020, Dr. Claude Murphy passed away peacefully, at the age of 101 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Murphy was instrumental in founding the University of Manitoba\u2019s department of family medicine and\u00a0establishing our province\u2019s first residency program at the Family Medicine Centre at St. Boniface Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0addition to being a dedicated teacher, he was an engaged physician leader, serving as President of the Manitoba College of Family Physicians 1967 to 1968 and\u00a0President of the College of Family Physicians of Canada 1972 to 1973.<\/p>\n<p>Recognizing\u00a0his many contributions to family medicine, the\u00a0Manitoba College of Family Physicians\u00a0established an award in his name, the Claude H.
