PGY1 residents work on scholarly activity.<\/p>\n<p>Period #12 was youth &amp; nutrition by Erin Stoesz, fever without pain by Dr. Kish, abdominal pain by Dr. Cavers and IUD contraception by Dr. Pernarowski.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kish presented heart failure as well as pharmacare review. Shannon Telfer reviewed RACE.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. du Toit did an NRP review on Friday morning and Dr. Sweetman completed sports-related injuries of the ankle and foot. Holly Reimer presented on craving change and the day was completed with Dr. Burnside presenting on CHF. All sessions held via ZOOM.<\/p>\n<p>Our final academic day was completed on June 4 and 5, 2020. Erin Stoesz presented CVD &amp; nutrition. Dr. Siraj presented on thyroid. The morning was reducing harm associated with substance abuse during COVID-19 by Shannon Telfer.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gray presented transition to practice and forms. The group then split into two groups and completed Lyme disease toolkit with Dr. Kish and SIM-obstetrics with Dr. Kish.<\/p>\n<p>R2s completed BLS and ACLS recertification on June 5 while R1s attend CPD: endocrinology day.<\/p>\n<p>PGY2 presented their scholarly activity project on Thursday, May 31 locally (via Zoom). This was used as a \u201cdress rehearsal\u201d for their Monday, June 1 session.<\/p>\n<p>Team meetings continue with strong attendance by the faculty and chief residents. Thoughtful discussion continues on the methods we can implement to continue to improve training at the Parkland Unit.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Carston (Brook) Ruffo was awarded Resident Spotlight Award for March 2020. This award recognizes residents who make important contributions while maintaining work\/life balance.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kish was honoured by the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada as one of 13 recipients of the society\u2019s Rural Service Award. Congratulations!<\/p>\n<p>Michelle Jubenvill celebrated 25 years with Prairie Mountain Health. The celebrations will be held later in the fall (they were postponed due to COVID-19).<\/p>\n<p>As we finish our academic year, we met and reviewed the resident annual report and will incorporate the feedback as we plan for 2020\/2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parkland Unit continues through rotations; this report ending period #13; completing the academic year.
