This award recognizes a person or group that has contributed significantly to the advancement of Canadian psychiatric epidemiology through innovative studies, methods development, teaching or knowledge transfer. This is a joint award from the Canadian Psychiatric Association and the Canadian Academy of Psychiatric Epidemiology.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Marcia Anderson<\/strong>, vice-dean, Indigenous health and executive director, Indigenous Academic Affairs, Ongomiizwin \u2013 Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing, received the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada\u2019s 2021 Dr. Thomas Dignan Indigenous Health Award. The award acknowledges and celebrates Canadian physicians or physicians-in-training who epitomize a zeal and devotion to Canadian Indigenous rights and the pursuit of justice for Canada\u2019s Indigenous Peoples. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.umanitoba.ca\/dr-marcia-anderson-honoured-with-royal-colleges-dr-thomas-dignan-indigenous-health-award\/\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Lesley Ritchie<\/strong>, assistant professor of clinical health psychology, has received American Board Certification in Clinical Neuropsychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Jason Peeler<\/strong>, associate professor of human anatomy and cell science, received the\u00a0Dr. and Mrs. H.H. Saunderson Award for Excellence in Teaching. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.umanitoba.ca\/congratulations-to-the-recipient-of-the-2021-dr-and-mrs-h-h-saunderson-award-for-excellence-in-teaching\/\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Winnipeg Jets, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, announced that goaltender Connor Hellebuyck and <strong>Melanie MacKinnon<\/strong>, head of Ongomiizwin and executive director of its health services branch, were named the NHL\u2019s Co-First Stars of the Week for the week ending April 11, 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.umanitoba.ca\/connor-hellebuyck-and-melanie-mackinnon-named-nhls-co-first-stars-of-the-week\/\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Ronak Patel<\/strong>, assistant professor of clinical health psychology, has received American Board Certification in Clinical Neuropsychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Eric Sigurdson<\/strong> received honorary membership in the Canadian Medical Association. He was also awarded the Max Rady College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry 2020 Maimonides Award for the Humanities in Psychiatry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Gigi Osler<\/strong>, assistant professor in the department of otolaryngology, received the 2021 May Cohen Equity, Diversity and Gender Award from the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.umanitoba.ca\/um-medical-prof-honoured-for-equity-diversity-and-gender-initiatives-in-medicine\/\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STUDENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shirin Moossavi<\/strong>, who completed her PhD in medical microbiology, received the Governor General\u2019s Gold Medal. It is awarded for outstanding achievement at the PhD level. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.umanitoba.ca\/spring-convocation-2021-meet-the-governor-general-medal-recipients\/\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tasnim Beacon<\/strong>, who completed her master of science in the department of biochemistry and medical genetics, received the Governor General\u2019s Gold Medal.
