Dean’s Corner welcome (November 2025)

Welcome to the inaugural October edition of Dean’s Corner, your monthly update from the College of Nursing (CoN).  This space is designed to keep our community informed, engaged and connected.

Here’s what you can expect from this communication tool:

  2. Strategic Plan quarterly updates (Sept-Dec); (Jan-April); (May-August): A link will be provided to a dashboard that will have our strategic priorities and actions for the current fiscal year.
  3. Ongoing initiatives: This will include capital projects and their updates, highlights on other ongoing initiatives with dates and information to share.  We will solicit this information from you at the end of every month for the following month.
  4. Associate dean highlights:  This section will provide a high-level summary of what is going on in each of the AD’s portfolio. It will have valuable information on events and initiatives that we want you to know about and in engage in as relevant.
  5. Indigenous initiatives:  This section will highlight our ongoing work to action the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) and work in a restorative way with our Indigenous colleagues and friends internal and external to the CoN.
  6. Community of practice: This section will highlight work that we will start doing across the CoN related to building a community of practice where it is relevant. More information will be forthcoming to learn about this initiative and how you could get involved.
  7. Welcome to the community: This section will introduce new faces in the CoN. Please take time to reach out to new persons and invite them into our community.
  8. Check your assumptions: This section is a space to ask questions, challenge assumptions and seek clarity on facts regarding issues in the CON. A step in moving towards building healthy teams and a healthy workforce begins here. Let’s work together to dispel rumors and have real time conversations about the facts. Rumors and assumptions that circulate create a manipulative environment. Depending on the nature of the issue, we will respond directly by email or if it seems substantial enough to address in this communication, we will respond to the subsequent edition of the Dean’s Corner. If the issue is relevant to the broader community and warrant discussion, we will have in-persons forums for meaningful discussions around these issues.
