Nurses Answer the Call
In celebration of National Nursing Week, it was inspiring to connect with our alumni and hear their compelling stories about their unique contribution in providing quality health care and advancing the profession of nursing. Their unique stories were featured in a captivating video entitled “Where Are They Now.” One of the heart-warming stories involves a mother and her two daughters who are answering the call and providing nursing service in their rural community.
During the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the unparalleled contribution of nurses as leaders, clinicians, educators and researchers have been highlighted and celebrated. I am proud of our team of stellar educators who are dedicated to preparing competent graduates. Their excellence was acknowledged during our successful accreditation process that resulted in achieving the maximum seven-year accreditation for both the program and the educational unit.
As the nursing shortage becomes more critical, our mandate to provide quality nursing education becomes even more significant. The convocation of our 102 graduands from our undergraduate and graduate programs in June will contribute to addressing the nursing workforce needs.
Over our 78-year history, the College of Nursing has prepared nearly 10,000 nurses and nurse leaders, who have provided leadership and exemplary service here in Manitoba and indeed around the world. We are proud to continue to answer the call and educate the finest future nursing professionals in Canada.
