Nicole Harder, Kellie Thiessen, Noah Gatzke, Jo-Ann Sawatzky, Nicole Riches

Congratulations to Dr. Nicole Harder, associate professor and Mindermar Professor in Human Simulation, on her appointment as associate dean, undergraduate programs in the College of Nursing. Dr. Harder also received the Martha Donovan Women’s Leadership Development Award and will complete the Women’s Leadership Program offered by the Yale University School of Management.

Congratulations to Dr. Kellie Thiessen on her appointment as the senior specialist in maternal health and midwifery for the Institute for Global Public Health (IGPH). She will continue to serve as the director for our Bachelor of Midwifery program.

Congratulations to Noah Gatzke, instructor II, Nurse Practitioner program, on being appointed chair-elect for College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) council. Noah has served on CRNM council for five years.

Congratulations to Dr. Jo-Ann Sawatzky, professor and former associate dean, graduate programs, on being appointed professor emeritus.

Congratulations to Nicole (Niki) Riches on her appointment as program assistant with the Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research.

Marla Robson, Christine Ateah, Donna Martin, Roberta Woodgate, Alyssa Visda

Congratulations to Marla Robson on being appointed as the Indigenous student advisor. Robson is a member of Peguis First Nation with maternal ties to Norway House Cree Nation.

Congratulations to Dr. Christine Ateah on her retirement. Dr. Ateah has demonstrated excellence in leadership, teaching, mentorship, research and service for the past 32 years. A distinguished leader, she served as acting dean, College of Nursing for three months; vice dean, education, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, for five years; associate dean, undergraduate programs, for seven years; and coordinator of interprofessional education (IPE) for three years.

Congratulations to Dr. Donna Martin, professor, associate dean, graduate programs, who achieved a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) grant amounting to $2.06 M. Entitled: “Ki thagi daba wanawug unji uduki wangk: Implementing an Elder-Youth Mentorship Model program to promote health and well-being in Lake St. Martin First Nation.”

Congratulations to Dr. Roberta Woodgate, Distinguished Professor, on her unprecedented success in achieving three CIHR grants amounting to $1.57M.
