In Memoriam
Dr. Benita Cohen, associate professor and valued member of our team for 24 years, passed away on Nov. 17. She was known for her excellence in teaching in both undergraduate and graduate courses. Her program of research was focused on health equity and social justice, issues she was passionate about. She was currently providing leadership as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Public Health Association. Benita was a dear colleague, leader, teacher, researcher, mentor and friend. She will certainly be missed.
Cindy Nordick, instructor at UCN in The Pas, passed away suddenly on Nov. 26. She worked with UCN for 30 years. Cindy was known for her teaching excellence and passion for pediatric and geriatric nursing. She was the driving force with respect to celebrating Nurses Week annually at UCN and ensured the students respected and participated in the activities throughout the community. Cindy had a huge impact on the nursing community in the north and will be missed.
