GNSA student lounge grand opening

The Graduate Nursing Students’ Association (GNSA) held a grand opening for its student lounge on Dec. 6, 2022.

GNSA co-chairs Ashley Bell and Hannah Mohammed spoke at the ribbon cutting event, along with Dr. Donna Martin, associate dean, graduate programs, and Dr. Netha Dyck, dean of the College of Nursing. Twelve current and former graduate nursing students attended the event. Students from Mahkwa omushki kiim: Pathway to Indigenous Nursing Education (PINE) were also invited as a thank-you for allowing the GNSA to use their space white the lounge was under construction.

The new lounge is located at room 210 in the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing.

On Jan. 16, the lounge was used for a mixer event for the GNSA and Nursing Students’ Association (NSA). It was organized in conjunction with the NSA mentorship committee and included a panel of four graduate nursing students – Brooke Kempin, Renee Boiley, Kerri-Ann Bochen and Jess Crawford – who provided an overview of their graduate nursing program and experiences. Approximately 30 undergraduate nursing students attended, along with the four panelists and GNSA co-chairs.
