2021 White Coat Ceremony

Pharmacy students wear white coats while holding papers and reading the Pledge of Professionalism.

September 27, 2021, marked an important occasion for the Class of 2025’s pharmacy journey. The first year PharmD students were welcomed to the pharmacy profession during the White Coat Ceremony.

Pharmacy students wear white coats while holding papers and reading the Pledge of Professionalism.

Following a message and blessing from Leslie Spillett, Knowledge Keeper with Ongomiizwin – Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing, Dean Raman-Wilms welcomed the students with inspiring words as they begin their pharmacy learning journey. Wendy Clark, president of the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM), addressed the students with a message of encouragement, as this marked the beginning of their association with CPhM, a relationship that will continue throughout their professional career.

Each first-year student was called to the stage where they ceremonially coated themselves with their first white coats. The College of Pharmacy also recognized the achievements of our entrance award recipients at the event. The White Coat Ceremony finished with the students reciting the Pledge of Professionalism, led by Dr. Lavern Vercaigne, associate dean (academic), College of Pharmacy, and welcoming remarks by Marianna Pozdirca, president of the University of Manitoba Pharmacy Student’s Association (UMPhSA) council.
