Postdoc wins 3MRVC

Shahla Shojaei, Dr. Hagar Labouta’s postdoc, won first prize in the three-minute video competition organized by the Canadian chapter of the Controlled Release Society. The 3MRVC requires researchers to present their research in a clear, concise and absorbing lay language appropriate for a broad, non-specialist audience in three minutes. 

Preventing unintended disaster

A University of Manitoba team led by Dr. Christine Leong, assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, is beginning a novel study to see if our cautionary measures are enabling a disaster somewhere else.

Weighing risks and benefits of medication use during pregnancy

College of Pharmacy assistant professor Dr. Sherif Eltonsy is the co-lead of the Canadian Mother-Child Cohort Active Surveillance Initiative, a project that received $2.9 million in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation to build a country-wide database.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research grant

The College of Pharmacy is happy to share that associate professor Dr. Ted Lakowski received a $699,975 grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research for his study focused on developing new cancer therapies that target specific genes involved in a type of leukemia.

Terry G. Falconer Memorial Rh Institute award

Congratulations to College of Pharmacy assistant professor Dr. Jill Stobart, who was the 2020 recipient of the Terry G. Falconer Memorial Rh Institute Foundation Emerging Researcher Award in the health science category.
