On November 18, 2020, CAPSI held a wellness panel on recognizing and responding to burnout for students in the college as part of CAPSI National’s wellness weeks.
Panelists Natalia Mozol (Student Services), Dr. Tanya Sala (Max Rady College of Medicine), Robin Oliver (College of Pharmacy) and Dennis Wong (Pharmacists Manitoba) addressed the topic and also took some time to reflect on their own personal experiences with burnout to illustrate the prevalence of it within the profession and to work towards erasing some of the stigma that may still be associated with discussing the topic.
The panel finished with a discussion specifically on how pharmacy as a profession has handled and adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic to limit burnout and how the profession can continue to promote healthy working environments for its members in the future.
