Therapy dog Rusty was honoured at the College of Pharmacy with the unveiling of a portrait and plaque in the Apotex Centre student lounge on December 6, 2019.
Rusty, the glasses-wearing dog, was well-known on campus for his soothing presence. With owner George Ames, Rusty logged more than 2,000 hours of service at both UM and St. Boniface Hospital. Rusty retired in November 2019 and passed away shortly after his 18th birthday in February 2020.
The College of Pharmacy is grateful to George and Linda Ames, a college alumna, for bringing light and cheer into the lives of our students and hope that this portrait of Rusty will remind us of that every day. He will be missed.
