Fifty-two PharmD Year 2 students completed their four-week Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) in Hospital Pharmacies from May 31 to August 20. Students completed rotations in hospitals throughout the province with nine rotations occurring outside of Winnipeg in seven different facilities.
“My preceptor and the pharmacists were all extremely nice and approachable. They all took an interest in my learning and I felt that they gave me excellent guidance while I was placed here,” commented one student following their rotation.
The preceptors provided a positive and valuable experience, as described by another Year 2 PharmD student, “I like that our preceptor was very organized and prepared for what we have to do during our rotation. He has a good knowledge of the assignments that we have to do and checked in with us on what we have completed and what we still need to do. Everyone at the site is very supportive, and I was able to ask the pharmacist if I had any questions.”
We would like to thank our preceptors for their continued support of experiential education for the students and the positive impact they have on them.
