The PharmD Class of 2023 completed the first Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) for Community Pharmacies in January 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students were hosted by preceptors from 52 pharmacies located across the province including Winnipeg, Brandon, Steinbach, Beausejour, Selkirk, Gimli, Birtle and Rossburn for this four-week rotation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the challenges of the pandemic at its peak, 20 per cent of the class participated in rotations outside of Winnipeg with a broad cross section of community pharmacy experiences overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want to thank all the sites, preceptors and supporting pharmacists and staff who made the inaugural IPPE rotation such a wonderful success! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, some of the second-year students had the added benefit of working with a fourth-year BSc. (Pharm) student completing their six-week community pharmacy rotation with them at the same time. Fourth year students indicated that this was a beneficial learning experience for them. \u201cI feel it is benefitting me as well because I will give him scenarios and cases and it gives me a refresher also,\u201d said fourth year BSc. (Pharm) student, James Pelletier. \u201cI am enjoying it a lot.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephanie Bansee, another fourth-year student, also appreciated the opportunity. \u201cI love having a student!\u201d said Bansee. \u201cI’ve been trying to teach her as much as I can.
