Dr. Lindsay Allen began a post-doc in the department of internal medicine on Sept. 1.
Dr. Rafiq Andani, assistant professor of family medicine, was appointed director of admissions, Max Rady College of Medicine.
Dr. Jacqueline Beaumont began her assistant professor of surgery appointment in September.
Dr. Edward Buchel was reappointed as department head of surgery, Max Rady College of Medicine, and provincial surgery representative, Shared Health, effective September 1, for a five-year term.
The section of nephrology in the department of internal medicine recently hired Dr. Arti Dhoot to join the group. She earned her medical degree from the University of Toronto in 2018, and completed her internal medicine residency at her alma mater in 2021. Dhoot completed her two-year nephrology fellowship at UM in 2023, and is currently a nephrology fellow at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.
Dr. Kaley Donaldson began her assistant professor of surgery appointment in September.
Dr. Anton Fomenko began his assistant professor of surgery appointment in August.
Dr. Patrick Frosk was appointed section head, genetics and metabolism program, department of pediatrics, as of Oct. 1. He is also provincial specialty lead for medical genetics and genomics, Shared Health. Frosk completed a bachelor of science in microbiology and a PhD in biochemistry and medical genetics at UM before moving to the University of Calgary for his medical degree. He returned to Winnipeg to complete a residency in medical genetics and genomics. He joined the program of genetics and metabolism in 2014 and maintains a practice focused on metabolics and neurogenetics. From an academic perspective, Frosk is a clinician researcher with the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba and recently completed a term as MGG residency program director.
Dr. Soheila Karimi, professor of physiology and pathophysiology, was appointed vice-dean (graduate and postdoctoral studies), Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. Read more
At the end of August, Dr. Alan Katz retired from his GFT position as a professor of family medicine after 30 years in the department.
Dr. Pascal Mailhot began his assistant professor of surgery appointment in September.
Cris Pescasio has joined the master of physician assistant studies team as the academic year program administrator as of May 6.
Dr. Robin Ralph-Edwards began her assistant professor of surgery appointment in April.

Dr. Pakpoom Ruangsomboon began his assistant professor of surgery appointment in September.
After working with Parkland Unit for the last 17 years, Erin Stoesz has accepted a position with PMH as hospital dietitian. Her many years of service are very much appreciated as she developed and created the roles to ensure residents have exposure to academic day teaching sessions, chronic disease clinic and hemodialysis. Her hands-on and community style education was very well received.
