The Pharmacogenetics-Supported Prescribing for Kids (PGx-SParK) research team is currently recruiting children, adolescents and young adults between six and 24 years old for a pharmacogenetic study.
Pharmacogenetic testing has the potential to improve drug treatment outcomes and limit the trial-and-error process by assisting doctors with medication selection and dosing. Children, adolescents and young adults planning to start or change a medication for mental health may be eligible to participate.
Participants must reside in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba or British Columbia. A doctor’s referral is required.
There are PGx-SPark team members from the University of Manitoba, including Dr. Alexander Singer, associate professor and director of research and quality improvement for the department of family medicine.
