Catalysts for Care monthly event launched

Asha Pereira, Lynda Balneaves and Laura Walton

Dr. Diana McMillan, associate professor in the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and the Clinical Chair at the Health Sciences Centre, in January launched Catalysts for Care, a monthly nursing grand rounds speaker series. The virtual presentations occur on the second Tuesday of the month, from noon to 1:00 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.

“The goal of this monthly virtual speaker series is the creation of a space for clinicians, researchers, scholars and students across Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northwestern Ontario to share knowledge, expertise, insights and questions to spark ideas and connection to strengthen nursing research and practice,” McMillan said.

“I try to alternate, as possible, presenters from clinical practice and from academia with a clinical research study or innovation that relates to practice in some way, like clinical research, leadership or education.”

She said more than 250 participants have already engaged in the series and the numbers are growing.

“It is wonderful to see this interest and to help create this important space for advancing nursing research and practice.”

All speakers are invited to have their presentations recorded. Those that are can be viewed here.
