Manitoba Deprescribing Interest Group

Dr. Lalitha Raman-Wilms, dean of the College of Pharmacy, and Dr. Alexander Singer, associate professor of family medicine at the Max Rady College of Medicine, held the second Manitoba Deprescribing Interest Group meeting on Nov. 15, 2022.

The purpose of this meeting was to bring together researchers, clinicians and educators from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, patient advocates and others interested in deprescribing; to share updates from the Canadian Medication Appropriateness and Deprescribing Network (CaDeN); and to discuss strategies for deprescribing initiatives in Manitoba.

Dr. Emily McDonald, scientific director, CaDeN, and associate professor of medicine, subspecialist in general internal medicine, McGill Health Centre, was the guest speaker.

The meeting was well attended and the discussion was very productive. The group plans to meet regularly and welcomes any new members who would like to be involved.
