Grand rounds: Trans Health in Primary Care

Objectives:

  1. Understand the appropriate terminology to use with respect to the care of transgender patients.
  2. Develop a sensitive and trans-affirmative approach to health care.
  3. Facilitate a patient who is transitioning based on best practices and a patient’s individualized goals.
  4. Counsel patients appropriately on criteria, efficacy and safety of hormone therapy.
  5. Understand the availability and facilitate referrals where possible for gender affirming surgery.
  6. Provide appropriate preventative care for trans patients.

Presenters:

Dr. Kelby Treloar, MD, CCFP-EM

Dr. Treloar is a family physician in Brandon. In addition to working as an emergency physician, Dr. Treloar helps care for transgendered patients in Brandon and the surrounding area.
